Manufacturing GDP:

The graph of the manufacturing gross domestic product (GDP) shows the value created by the manufacturing sector.

The quarterly data provided by the Conference Board of Canada is deseasonalized to eliminate the impact of seasonal variations and make it possible to compare data throughout the year.

This data is also annualized. Annualizing quarterly data (multiplying it by four) makes it possible to compare quarterly performance with the annual result.

In addition, the GDP figures are expressed in constant 2002 dollars. This eliminates the fluctuations resulting from inflation and gives us what is known as “real” data.

The graph also indicates the weight of the manufacturing sector relative to total GDP. This result is obtained by dividing the manufacturing GDP by the total GDP.
