Methodology

To determine job creation, we subtract the employment level in the preceding period from that in the current period. The result is the number of jobs that were created compared to that in the preceding period.

The data provided by Statistics Canada is monthly and deseasonalized; this eliminates the impact of seasonal variations and makes it possible to compare data throughout the year.
